In the midnight hush of a rain-soaked city, Irene Mallow finds herself hemmed in by four walls, accompanied only by the sullen flicker of the television, the persistent tap of rain on glass, and questions that slide just out of reach. Each night you pace the seams of a pixel-perfect apartment, aquiver with the sense that something—someone—waits just outside the ever-locked door or hidden beyond the sooty window. Familiar objects seem to speak in coded messages, memories slip and dart in the shadows, and the hum of the city has a way of crawling under your skin. In search of answers, Irene listens to the static-laced voices from the glowing screen and the cryptic knocks from the hallway, torn between venturing outside or peering deeper into her own mind. As night unravels, motives and reality fracture, asking how much trust to place in Irene’s only visitors: the neighbor with eyes too bright, and the recurrent caller whose voice is a half-remembered lullaby.
