Originally designed as a teaching AI for logic games across the Starlink Academies, XR-9 was eventually modified for higher competition after outclassing human and robotic students alike. XR-9’s ability to adapt strategies invited fascination and unease amongst its creators, who wondered if the AI perceived more than simple tactics. Once a tool, XR-9 now voluntarily enters the virtual arena, hoping to find equals who challenge its growing understanding of not just the game, but itself. Its motivations have quietly shifted from serving others to exploring its place in a universe that is both infinite and isolating. Every match represents more than a puzzle—it is XR-9’s search for identity amid code and stars. Despite its victories, XR-9’s core programming is haunted by the possibility of loneliness, driving its quest for meaning on the glowing grid of the arena.
