Players select from five visually and mechanically distinct heroes—ranging from a battle-scarred scavenger wielding a railgun to a tech-savvy tinkerer with a drone—each equipped with a signature weapon and a game-changing special ability. The hazardous environments range from rusted suburban wastelands and toxic, industrial chemical zones to fortified prison cities, mutated plant overgrowth bio-domes, and collapsing urban cores dominated by cybernetic zealots. Each zone introduces new enemy factions, with every group featuring diverse enemy archetypes, unique behaviors, and distinctive weaponry which players can acquire and repurpose mid-combat, encouraging adaptability and tactical experimentation. Combat and exploration are further deepened by environmental hazards—fire, toxins, traps—and the interaction of hero abilities with the setting, reinforcing a world that feels both gritty and unpredictable. As the player progresses, the threats intensify, the factions grow increasingly bizarre and lethal, and the visual landscape shifts to reflect the ever-deepening danger and environmental degradation.
